Immediate Load Implants

Immediate load implants represent one of the fields in recent dental research that is seeing widespread application. This discipline, which we have been practicing at our center for a long time, has not surprisingly reached very high levels of safety and reliability, to the point where it can remedy the loss of natural teeth in a patient in less than 24 hours in a perfectly functional and aesthetically valid way.

What is immediate load?

With functional immediate load, it is possible to create a fixed, personalized 12-tooth bridge quickly and effectively. With immediate load implants, both implants and prostheses are created almost simultaneously, unlike traditional procedures that require a couple of months' wait between implant placement and prosthesis creation. Therefore, it is possible to have a fixed, secure, and aesthetically natural set of teeth in less than 24 hours after the procedure.

Why choose immediate load implants?

The benefits of immediate load implants are not insignificant, let's explore them together:

Time is saved, and no multiple procedures are necessary: the process is completed within 24 hours;

You can start eating solid foods the day after the procedure;

It is a highly effective technique, and certified quality materials are used;

The costs are relatively lower;

You can show off a dazzling and natural smile right away;

The problem of having to wear a removable denture while waiting for months is solved.

How is immediate load implantology performed?

The process typically involves three visits to the dental center:

During the first visit, specialists perform checks on the patient to determine the possibility of proceeding with immediate load implants. For this purpose, at our center, we take digital impressions of the arches using the Trios 3Shape scanner, obtain radiographic images through 3D CT scans, and take necessary photographs. All this diagnostic information will be used to plan the perfect insertion of the implants through a digital design called Computer-Guided Implantology.

The second visit may involve the extraction of compromised teeth and the placement of titanium implants. Within 24 hours, the dentist attaches a temporary prosthesis to the patient's dental arch, which, thanks to its metal substructure, ensures significant strength and stability. At the same time, thanks to the prosthesis, normal life can resume immediately, regaining chewing function and a completely natural smile.

Finally, three months after the installation of the temporary prosthesis, once the osseointegration process of the implants is complete, the final prosthesis, made from advanced and highly durable materials, will replace the temporary one.

Can immediate load implants be performed on all patients?

It is important to note that in order to undergo an immediate load implant surgery, the patient must meet the following conditions:

Have good periodontal support (gum support);

Have an adequate quantity and quality of bone;

Not suffer from bruxism or severe malocclusion;

Not suffer from serious oral infections or other general health issues.

However, if the amount of bone available for dental implants is insufficient, or in cases of atrophy or lack of bone ridges, immediate load implants can still be performed using the Columbus Bridge™ protocol. This technique allows implants to be inserted even into residual bone (see photo below). By using tilted implants, it is possible to effectively perform an immediate load implant procedure even with reduced bone support and avoid interfering with important anatomical structures.
